Sometimes I day dream about trading in my little house in the city for a historical loft in a hip downtown neighbourhood close to places like St.Lawrence Market & The Distillery District. We've been dreaming of architectural details like 14 foot ceilings, post & beam, and exposed brick walls. I'd love to be able to walk or take public transit everywhere I needed to go. I'd love to not worry about maintaining a yard or shoveling snow. Sometimes I think loft living might be simpler. This building would be just perfect.

Ha! When we first started 'house' hunting we were looking for a loft and I kept coming back to this building as well. It is gorgeous!! I feel like the prices have dropped in it recently though. The area is a cross between up and coming (i.e George restaurant, new condos, cool shops) and sketch (corner of Queen and Sherbourne, that park can be good and bad, etc) but I would TOTALLY live there.
ReplyDeleteAnd to ramble on more, I often have the "remember how easy it was living in the old condo" moments. It's totally normal (right?). :-)
There are 2 listings on mls currently in this building. One of them is on the top floor and has a roof top deck with an amazing view of downtown. I agree that it's in a somewhat sketchy area that could go either way. I also think the queen street car rumbling by would take some getting use to!
ReplyDeleteMy friend lived in that building in particular - fantastic space and it was actually featured in the September 2008 issue of Canadian House & Home.
ReplyDeleteReally? I'll have to check my H&H back issues! Thx Cameron!
