What Next?

Even though we recently finished renovating our kitchen, we've already starting to think about our next project...the basement! It's the only area left untouched since we moved in over 4 years ago. We've just begun gathering ideas and inspiration at this point. We still need time to rest & refuel before another major reno. Here are some before shots of the basement as it looks today and some inspirational photos of how it might look in the future.

Colette Love...Revisited

We've had so much interest in our DIY version of the Colette bed that I decided to post a few more 'how-to' pics along with the instructions again so that people can try to replicate it themselves. Unfortunately I don't have any photos of the plywood cutting or the fabric stapling but hopefully you'll get the jist.
I included the link to the upholstery tacks from Lee Valley as well as a link to some fabric swatches from Designer Fabrics in Toronto that would be good options.

Cross it off the List!

4 months after our kitchen installation began, it is now finally complete.  The microwave filler pieces that were originally 2mm too big were re-ordered and arrived this week. Now I can finally cross it off the kitchen to-do list! Phew!

DIY Bistro Chalkboard

Loving bistro inspired chalkboards in the kitchen so I made my own. I re-used a piece of masonite that I had previously used for another project. I had already painted and glued pieces of moulding to the board so it was just a matter of painting it with chalk board paint that I bought from Benjamin Moore. It required 3 coats to get a nice thick and durable finish- foam roller applied.
